Losing hair sucks. WE have all been there crying out after brushing our hair to see chunks of hair not being a part of us anymore. It stresses us out which causes more hair fall and the cycle continues. Ayurveda treatments help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. Using Ayurveda/natural remedies have long been popular for treating hair loss as it incorporates the use of natural ingredients and herbs that promote natural growth. Its time to switch from chemical substances to these natural alternatives.
1. Amla (Phyllanthus emblica)
Amla also known as the Indian gooseberry is not only used for hair loss but is also effective in the treatment of ingestion and purifying blood. It improve scalp health by removing dandruff and itchy scalp aggravation. It also promotes a natural brown colour when combined with shikakai.
Mix 5-6 tbsp. of amla powder with 5-6 tbsp. of water in a bowl until it form a thick consistent paste. Apply this paste to your scalp and hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes before washing it off with water.
Repeat this procedure three times a week for best results.
2. Rita (Soap nuts)
Rita herb more commonly known as soap nuts have been used for centuries as a natural shampoo. It promotes hair growth, improves hair texture and thickness. Rita is mind in nature so it can be used regularly.
Boil a handful of soap nuts in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes. Leave the mixture overnight. In the morning, rinse your hair with water before running this solution through your hair. Massage for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with water. Repeat this process every other day to stop hair growth and improve scalp health.
3.Bringraj (Eclipta Prostrata)
Brinraj is also known as the king of herbs and it stays true to its name. It promotes hair growth and reverses the effects of baldness. It also prevents the premature greying of hair. Bringraj is commonly available in the market in the form of powder or oil. When applied to scalp, it has a cooling/calming effect. This herb is also used to treat sleep disorders.
Blend a handful of leaves in 5-6 tbsp of brinraj powder in quarter cup of water until you get a thick and consistent paste. Apply this paste on scalp and leave it on for 20 minutes before washing it off with shampoo. Repeat this procedure at least 3 times a week.
4. Neem Leaves (Margosa)
There are a number of reason for hair loss, the major reason being scalp infection and dandruff. Neem has great antibacterial properties that help in restoring scalp health, eradicates dandruff from hair and stops hair fall.
Boil a handful of neem leaves with 4 cups of water. Cool mixture and rinse your hair with the solution. Neem oil can also be used to treat hair fall.
5. Shikakai(Acacia concinna)
The word shikakai translates to “Fruit for hair”. Rich antioxidant properties of this herb makes it ideal for treating scalp damage and reduce hair fall. It also makes hair more manageable, removes dandruff and works as a conditioner for hair by detangling them and making them silky and smooth.
Mix 6 tbsp. of shikakai powder in 2 cups of water. Use the solution as a shampoo. Apply half solution in hair and scalp and leave it on for 5 minutes before washing it off with water. Use this treatment on alternative days.
